Explore the abstract and introspective artistic world of 58-year-old Australian artist Grey Rolnn.
Rolnn began her career in bustling Sydney as a graphic designer, striving for precision and perfection. However, at the age of 35, she moved alone to the coast near Perth. Confronted by the vastness of the natural world, she realized that traditional figurative depiction could no longer fully convey the deep emotions or the inner landscapes she yearned to explore.
Returning to the studio, she abandoned realistic representation in favor of abstract art. Her work captures the flow of thoughts, emotions, and memories rather than the surface appearance of the world.
"My paintings are not merely to be looked at; they are meant to be felt," she says. Each brushstroke represents an intimate dialogue with her inner world, distilling emotion, contemplation, and time into a tangible form. Rolnn no longer pursues flawless surface textures or conventional imagery; instead, she has discovered an artistic way of life rooted in abstraction, introspection, and tactile expression.
