Léon Born in Nantes, 1986. He copied Peanuts as a child—not for love of Snoopy, but because the doghouse, the typewriter, the skateboard had clean lines to trace.
In 2020, locked down in a Paris apartment, he began pasting comic pages onto canvas, scribbling over text with pencil. Paint dripped. He didn’t wipe it. He let it run. He called it Snoopy’s Notebook, sent it to three friends, and wrote: “Don’t laugh. I’m just practicing.” Every piece has a mistake—on purpose.
A collector bought #19. That evening, he sat on his balcony, smoking, thinking: “Now I need to buy more white.”
