About Artist
Born in Paris in 1990 to a French father and Japanese mother, Elise Nakamura-Dupont grew up at the intersection of two rich artistic cultures. Her father, a French graphic designer, introduced her to the colorful world of European poster art, while her mother, a Kyoto-born ceramicist, instilled in her a deep appreciation for form, symbolism, and traditional aesthetics.
Elise studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she majored in visual communication and fine arts. Later, she continued her education at Tokyo University of the Arts, immersing herself in the legacy of post-war Japanese pop culture and its subversive visual language. This bicultural education forged her unique style — a bold fusion of Western Pop Art with subtle nods to Japanese manga, consumerism, and visual minimalism.
Her works often feature bright, saturated color palettes, layered textures, and ironic commentary on modern identity, fashion, and media. Drawing inspiration from icons like Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, and Takashi Murakami, Elise’s canvases pulse with energy, wit, and cultural duality.
