Astrid Jørgensen (Kopie)

BORN IN 1984
Credentials
  • Mateo de la Sombra is an MFA graduate from the Royal Academy of Art
  • specializing in the intersection of classical structure and modern abstraction. He was awarded the European Contemporary Art Grand Prize in 2024 for his innovative use of shadow as a structural element.
"True emotion never shouts; it breathes in the spaces between the lines."

Mateo de la Sombra utilizes heavy impasto and palette knife techniques to create "architectural" layers that challenge the boundary between painting and shadow-play.
